The village of Makri is only about 12 km away from Alexandroupolis, my hometown. We used to come here for day-trips as children during our time at elementary and high schools. The legend says that Ulysses stranded at the coast nearby, and was captured with all his men by Polyphemos, one of the cyclops. The rocks look savage and have something reminiscent of the mythical story that used to frighten our young souls and give us nightmares. There is visible corrosion in both, nature itself and many stone-houses that are left in ruins. Rust and decay!
